Encouraging Your Kids To Be Active And Healthy

Let us face it ? children of today have too many electronic distractions like television, the PC and the Playstation ? even if they still may enjoy playing outside. This leaves our kids with a greater risk of growing up with major health problems or developing a tendency towards being overweight.

This, too, is a dangerous environment ? what’s to do if you wish to encourage your kids to be active if you’re concerned about their welfare outside? Here are several ways we can encourage our kids to be active and healthy, rather than overweight, unhealthy, and glued to the tube.

If you love music, play it around the house. It’s not hard to coax a positive response from children when it comes to playing music. And this positive response includes dancing to the music ? don’t be shy to bust a move and be a good example for the little ones!

Set up a play area in the living room with a few cushions. This could keep them busy for a while.

Toddlers absolutely adore baby bouncers. This is because they encourage the use of legs and upright posture while still being fun.

You don’t need a swimming pool for this ? fill a bowl up with water and toys for your young child to enjoy.

You can encourage small children to walk or crawl by putting their toys a bit out of reach. They will then need to move that distance to get what they want, and ensure their remaining active.

Be practical when toy shopping and choose toys that encourage physical action. These toys help improve hand-eye coordination.

Having playmates in the same age group could help your children socialize better. Your child would be well-trained when it comes to socializing, as well as participating and leading group activities.

School-aged children can be encouraged to do house chores. Your child can take pride in successfully taking the laundry to the washing machine, sweeping up a mess, or helping out in cleaning the car, as well as being physically active for the time being.

Sporting activities like ball games are all well and good, but not as indoor sports, as your appliances stand the risk of being damaged. A balloon would make a nice alternate choice of toy. Your kids could set up a makeshift game of volleyball by trying to keep the balloon in the air.

Show a positive attitude when choosing activities for your growing children. Be very careful in conveying emotion, as you wouldn’t want your kids associating negative things with otherwise fun and wholesome indoor activities.
